Q: Dr. von Maur, you mentioned that your Orange County Plastic Surgery office and the entertainment industry often collide, would you be more specific?
A: “In our OC Plastic Surgery office, one of our popular cosmetic request, (and a noticeable beauty fad within the last 3 years), is full lips-like Angelina Jolie’s. We have often had women bring in photos of Bay Watch star, Pamela Anderson using her photos as an example of their desired Breast Augmentation. This year, the requests for Post Bariatric Cosmetic Surgery has increased tremendously. I believe due in part by the innovative “Lap Band” Bariatric Surgery and the various popular entertainment personalities that have received the Lap Band Surgery. I’m proud to say that our office provides you with movie star wishes and scientific know hows.”

Breast Augmentation by OC Plastic Surgeon, Burr von Maur, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Q: Dr von Maur, I’m an exercise fanatic and plan on having Breast Augmentation Surgery next week, how soon can I exercise after my Breast Augmentation?
A: In General, we recommend that you avoid vigorous exercise for about 3 to 4 weeks. However, you can start doing lighter activities such as; walking on the treadmill and elliptical cross trainer, or simply walking in about one week. Most patients are up and around the same day.

Q:I’m 35 and have had 2 kids. My tummy and breasts are saggy, and I have unwanted fat in some areas around my hips. I guess I’m the classic candidate for a “MommyMake Over”. But, here’s my concern- I just want to be under anesthesia once! I’m in need of many procedures, can I get everything done all at once and still be safe?
A:
If your general health is optimum, the full “mommy makeover” (breast lift and tummy tuck with hip liposuction) is generally safe as long as a thorough preoperative evaluation has been done and you have been cleared for surgery.

Q: Dr. von Maur, I had Lap Band surgery over 14 months ago and have lost close to 113 pounds. My weight has been stable and I receive so many compliments for my weight loss. But when I don’t have clothes on, I see a body that doesn’t represent the new me. I need information on my aesthetic choices and I realize you are a member of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons, would you help?
Mandy, New Port Beach, CA.
A: Dear Mandy,
After a gastric bypass surgery and once a healthy lifestyle is stable, patients seek solutions to their specific aesthetic challenges. I get a tremendous amount of satisfaction by specializing in these specific surgeries. Typically, the natural aging process causes skin and tissue to lose elasticity and tone over time. Gastric bypass surgeries result in massive weight loss. Together, both factors contribute to poor tissue elasticity which results in loose sagging skin with irregular contours. A surgical body lift improves the shape and tone of the underlying tissue that supports fat and skin and offers a more youthful-looking silhouette. A body lift is individualized to your specific regions to be treated. We welcome all patients with a complementary consultation and present a computer image of how you can look post procedure. We’re a phone call away.
