Today, there has been increasing media attention focusing on Cryolipolysis™ by Zeltiq. It is a Non-Invasive device that is used off label (which means it is awaiting FDA approval) and differs from the other non-invasive devices because it uses a cold technique to reduce fat volume. It works by pressing the device against the area to be treated and then becoming cold enough to target only the fat cells in that area. The body reacts with an inflammatory response which causes the body to naturally dispose of the damaged fat cells. The jury is still out regarding the efficacy of most of these non-invasive body contouring procedures.

Regardless of the type of Non-Invasive technology you may choose, they all share the following common conditions:

1. More than one treatment is required (and often a series is required) before results are seen

2. There are no guarantees that it will work on you

3. There are side effects to each procedure

4. The results thus far are not impressive and do not come close to the results that can be obtained with Plastic Surgical Body Contouring procedures.

“Father Time” may offer us all opportunities, but demands and captures our exuberant youthful appearance.  Although culture plays a significant role in our description of a Beautiful Butt, the butts aging process crosses all ethnic back grounds.  The gluteal muscles begin to atrophy, diminished collagen and elastin help the sagging process, hormones and lack of circulation help cellulite to appear, loss of volume creates a flat butt. Plastic Surgery of the buttocks (liposuction) would permanently restore and create harmonious natural balance and is often synchronized with fat grafting.

But what is FAT GRAFTING?

Micro-fat grafting, or autologous transfer, involves harvesting fat from one part of the body (usually the flanks, hips, abdomen, thighs or lower back), and then re-injected into the needed areas. Fat grafting may have to be done more than once since fat survival varies with location: it is is best in areas which exhibit the least movement. For example,  fat  grafts in the cheeks survive better than in the lips or Buttocks. Furthermore, graft survival is variable from one patient to the other. Fat grafting carries a very low risk of complications which may include infection, asymmetry, or lumpiness.  These occurrences are rarely seen. The advantage is that it is your own natural tissue, it is soft and it is permanent.

Thursday morning I made sure to wear matching bra and panties -something to make me feel better while a complete stranger looks at my “they’ve been better” areas. I had already received informational brochures and filled out the paper work at home. “Third building, 3rd floor, Suite 351″, I kept repeating to myself as I parked my car. The suite was easy to find (next to the elevator). I was warmly received by  the receptionist.She was professional, glamorous and chic with a friendly smile. The reception area presented a  “Tommy Bahama” meets Luxury ambiance with, Before and After Photo Portfolios offered through out the area. Impulsively, I reached for the “Liposculpture Portfolio”. I knew I was in the right place by the third photo. Dr. von Maur’s work is stunning. The great, “Leonardo da Vinci”, came to my mind as I viewed the before and after photos. I was on page 5 when a patient care coordinator escorted me into the consultation room. I was in the room within 10 minutes! She was nice and expressed a comfortable personality that made me feel at ease.  After a few questions she stepped out, then, introduced me to Dr. von Maur. He is tall, commanding, confident and distinguished. He quietly shook my hand as he looked me in the eyes. He streched the importance of examining my shape objectively together with me present, so that we can look at the whole picture to discuss a plan. To be continued… Come back tomorrow

Step#1 calls for Liposuction:

The search for a Plastic Surgeon began with a night out with the girls. I noticed Eva’s adorable sleeveless top was holding itself up. As we talked about our work week, I mentioned I had visited a med spa, and spoken to a surgeon regarding my saddlebags, but I felt unsure.  Eva whispered, I’m going to text you. The text read, “he has lots of experience and he “helped me”. I thought, “Well, Eva does have envious  breasts, and I’m in the need of  “sexy legs“.  So, that night, I did what most girls do when we need to research a man…I Googled him.
