Q: Dr von Maur, I’m an exercise fanatic and plan on having Breast Augmentation Surgery next week, how soon can I exercise after my Breast Augmentation?
A: In General, we recommend that you avoid vigorous exercise for about 3 to 4 weeks. However, you can start doing lighter activities such as; walking on the treadmill and elliptical cross trainer, or simply walking in about one week. Most patients are up and around the same day.

Body Contouring technologies range from Liposuction (surgery); to laser liposuction (laser that melts fat); to Non-Invasive Techniques. These Non-Invasive technologies range from Photomology ™ (laser energy and massage) to Endermologie ™ (patent rollers that massage); to electro-optical synergy - (a device that tightens skin while contouring the body). In the future you will see intense marketing of the next round of Non-Invasive Body Contouring devices using Ultrasound. Today, there has been increasing media attention focusing on Cryolipolysis™ by Zeltiq. It is a Non-Invasive device that is used off label (which means it is awaiting FDA approval) and differs from the other non-invasive devices because it uses a cold technique to reduce fat volume. It works by pressing the device against the area to be treated and then becoming cold enough to target only the fat cells in that area. The body reacts with an inflammatory response which causes the body to naturally dispose of the damaged fat cells. The jury is still out regarding the efficacy of most of these non-invasive body contouring procedures.
