-If you are Considering Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is the most frequently performed cosmetic surgical procedure on women with 291,350 procedures performed in the United States in 2007 according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Augmentation mammoplasty enhances the size and shape of a womans breast. This accomplishes many things for you including improvement of your body contour for personal reasons and to help balance differences in breast size which may occur. It is effective to reduce the size of breasts following pregnancy and may be used in reconstructive surgery after mastectomy.
Please ask your surgeon if there is anything you do not understand about augmentation mammoplasty. The mammary implants are usually placed behind the pectoralis major muscle but occasionally placed directly behind the breast gland itself. You may increase your bust line by one or more cup size and this can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence. You should discuss your expectations thoroughly with your physician and be comfortable with your Newport Beach surgeon. The best candidates for Newport Beach breast augmentation are women who wish to improve their appearance and women who are healthy and have realistic expectations. If you wish to improve the way you look, then a breast augmentation is very helpful.
The FDA has determined that the new gel implants are safe and effective as well as saline implants. Our preference in most patients is to use silicone gel fill breast implants, although some patients prefer saline and we use those as well. During your consultation for your Newport Beach Breast Augmentation we discuss all the different surgical techniques and decide which technique is the best personally for you. If your breasts are sagging, your doctor may recommend a breast lift. You should be open with your physician and discuss all of your expectations. Frequently your Orange County surgeon will ask you to try on implants inside your bra to give you an idea of the size you wish to become after the implants are inserted. This is very helpful to give you a visual of the size and also to help you feel more comfortable. Most insurance companies consider breast augmentation as not medically necessary and this procedure is generally not covered by insurance. When you have your surgery, you should make arrangements to have someone drive you to and from the surgery center in Newport Beach. The surgery is generally performed using general anesthesia with board-certified and experienced anesthesiologist. The procedure takes about 1 to 12 hours to perform, and after your surgery, you will be up and around in about 12 to 24 hours or so. The dressings are changed the day after the operation. You are placed into a specific surgical bra and the stitches are removed in about one week. Getting back to normal after the breast augmentation depends on your activity. We ask that you avoid extreme impact activity such as aerobics, running, tennis, and marshal arts, etc. for about six weeks. You can work your way up through various non-impact physical activity including walking, stationary bicycle, and elliptical cross-trainer. It is recommended that your physician follow you regularly after the surgery for at least one year and that you comply with all the instructions.
Newport Beach Breast augmentation is a procedure with a high satisfaction rate and can significantly improve your self-esteem.

If you are considering Rhinoplasty
Orange County Rhinoplasty is all about reshaping the nose. The nose is the aesthetic center of the face and rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, improve any bump on your nose, or refine the tip as well. Your surgeon will give you basic information brochures to help answer some of your questions.
Be sure to ask your surgeon about anything that you do not understand. The best candidates for plastic surgery are those who wish to enhance their appearance, self-esteem, and self- confidence and those who have realistic expectations. Many patients have an idea of how they wish to look and are encourage to bring photographs of their ideal nose to the doctor to discuss the possibilities. The best candidates for rhinoplasty are those who wish improvement and are not looking for absolute perfection. The rhinoplasty should be directed at both improving the aesthetic goals as well as correcting any breathing difficulties that may be present. Most surgeons agree that operating on younger people such as teenagers is appropriate.
The age range for girls is around 14 to 15 years of age and for boys slightly later. It is important to have a strong relationship with the patient’s parents and discuss with the them all considerations including emotional adjustments. Rhinoplasty should be performed by a qualified Plastic Surgeon. Complications are infrequent and are usually minor. These would include infection and nose bleed or reaction to anesthesia. Sometimes small blood vessels may appear on the surface of the skin after rhinoplasty and these can be treated with laser. Rhinoplasty is performed either as an opened or closed procedure. Today the open procedure is becoming more popular because of accuracy and control. There is a tiny scar at the base of the nose which is well hidden and is not usually a concern afterwards.
One must be aware that secondary revision rhinoplasty occurs in about one out of ten patients even with the most skilled surgeons. The corrective surgery is usually minor. When you plan your rhinoplasty surgery, during your consultation you should ask for a thorough explanation of the procedure, to see all before and after patient photographs available, and discuss all of the technical and clinical aspects of the surgery and what you can expect afterwards. Most rhinoplasty procedures are performed as an outpatient under general anesthesia with local anesthesia assisting. Some surgeons prefer local anesthesia only with sedation. Do not hesitate to ask your doctor any questions that you might have regarding your expectations. Your surgeon will instruct in preparing for your surgery regarding diet, medications, and vitamins and you should arrange to have someone drive you to and from the surgery facility. It is recommended that a board-certified anesthesiologist perform both sedation and general anesthesia medication and that the procedure is performed in a certified surgery center. Orange County Rhinoplasty in general takes about one to three hours to perform depending upon the complexity of the procedure and the nature of the sculpting and reshaping of the nose. Sometimes small incisions are made around the edges of the nostrils to reduce nostril flaring. A splint will be applied on the outside of your nose and packs will be on the inside of your nose. These are left in place for a variable period of time. Afterwards you will feel stuffed up and puffy and you will probably have a runny nose which may have a small amount of bleeding which is normal and generally stops. Sometimes patients have short-term headaches and it is advisable to stay in bed with your head and shoulders elevated after surgery to allow the swelling to subside. Gradually the swelling goes down and the bruising, which is variable, around your eyes improves after three or four days. Cold compresses are very helpful. After your surgery you will be up and around within the first two days or so. Basically you may return to sedentary work or school in about a week or so after the splint and packs are removed. Your normal activity schedule will gradually come into play as time improves healing. It is recommended that jogging, swimming, and lifting be avoided for four to six weeks afterwards. If you wear glasses it is sometimes advisable to tape them to your forehead until all the swelling is down and you are healed. The doctor will followup closely with you after your surgery. Your appearance will improve with time. Initially your face will be swollen with some bruising and as time passes you will look better and better. Healing is a slow process and very gradual. We usually inform patients that most of the swelling is gone in three or four weeks but it takes an entire year for the swelling to completely resolve and sometimes even longer depending on the thickness of your skin. Rhinoplasty is a very gratifying experience for patients and can do wonders for your self-esteem and self-confidence.
